Abhijeet Shrivastava is the Joint Managing Partner at Shrivastava Law Associates (SLA) and a qualified Advocate-on-Record (AOR) at the Supreme Court of India. At the Firm, he specializes in Litigation, Arbitration and Corporate practice areas. Abhijeet has considerable experience in advising on all aspects of dispute resolution including arbitrations and mediations. His multi-sectoral expertise, deep legal knowledge and understanding of legal procedures, allow him to deliver efficient and pragmatic solutions.

Abhijeet’s caseload involves cases with significant commercial sensitivity and reputational implications. He has successfully represented large companies, multi-nationals, business groups and government departments before the Supreme Court, various High Courts and Appellate Tribunals & Judicial foras including NCLT, NCLAT, NGT, etc.

Abhijeet is an alumnus of Jindal Global Law School, Haryana (LLB) and Durham University, United Kingdom (LLM). He has also done specialized courses in Corporate Law and Commercial Law from London School of Economics. He is a Member at Supreme Court Bar Association of India, Madhya Pradesh State Bar Association, Delhi High Court Bar Association and International Law Association.

Select Matter Experience

Successfully represented a Tier I Corporate engaged as a Mine Developer and Operator (“MDO”) before a three-member arbitral tribunal (Consisting of retired judges of Supreme Court and High Court) in the said MDO’s disputes against Chhattisgarh Power Generation Company Limited and securing significant monetary reliefs.
Successfully represented a public servant from Madhya Pradesh in his challenge to the cancellation of promotion by the Municipal Corporation, Bhopal, State of Madhya Pradesh, before the Supreme Court of India.
Successfully represented a Corporate engaged as a contractor in Madhya Pradesh in an appeal before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, New Delhi, on the issue as to whether board resolution is required in support of a demand notice as under Section 8 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, with a judgement in favour holding that there is no such requirement.
Successfully represented a mineral resource Association (Pellet) before the Chhattisgarh High Court on the issue as to whether Transit Fees is leviable on the transport of pellets (which is made out of iron ore through a specific beneficiation process and which pellets are mostly used as raw material).
Appeared before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and secured significant reliefs in matters concerning Loan Moratorium issues, whereby the compound interest was being arbitrarily charged by banks on those who had availed moratorium on loans during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Acted for major mining and cement producing entities before various High Courts in the challenge against Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation Act) Act, 2021 and successfully secured major interim reliefs.
Advised and represented a major global Chartering Company in Arbitration against its shipping disputes with Steel Authority of India (S.A.I.L.), a Maharatna Corporation of the Indian Government, arising in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis of 2009.
Advised and successfully represented in a matter pertaining to initiation of criminal proceedings for evasion of Stamp Duty before the Supreme Court of India.
Advised and successfully represented a well-established Mining Overburden (O.B.) Removal Carrier Agency of Chhattisgarh against investigation initiated by the Central Bureau of Investigation before the High Court of Chhattisgarh as well as the Supreme Court of India.
Argued and secured relief in a matter pertaining to challenge of Election Petition against the Vice President of Panchayat, Korba, Chhattisgarh in writ proceedings before the High Court of Chhattisgarh.
